The ESPN Baseball reporter Peter Gammons is leaving ESPN. He is known as legendary journalist in the ESPN. He was an senior journalist in the ESPN network because he is reported on baseball for ESPN since 1989. It is become big missing in ESPN, because Gammons have big contribute before.

Peter Gammons is leaving ESPN after the Winter Meetings. The only explanation provided in a press release is that he decided to pursue new endeavors.

As I continue to pick the brains of people close to the Rangers, it sounds like the club wants a significant prospect in return for Kevin Millwood, along with the chance to escape most of their $12 million obligation for next season.

Peter Gammons, who wrote for the Boston Globe and Sports Illustrated before joining ESPN, was in the first wave of print reporters who got TV jobs. Says ESPN executive editor John Walsh: “Peter was the best and brightest in making the transition from print to video.”

Also, the Rangers would need to have a deal in place for another veteran pitcher such as Rich Harden or Ben Sheets, two of the low-risk, high-reward types that fit into their cost-cutting mode, before parting with Millwood.

Gammons survived a potentially life-threatening aneurysm in 2006. He appeared across ESPN’s media outlets and, occasionally, was involved in game coverage. ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson says ESPN is “sad to see Peter Gammons go” but understands “his desire for new challenges and a less demanding schedule.”
